We are hiring a District Manager - Asset Protection for the Edmonton market
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager - Asset Protection, the incumbent will be a partner in the Asset Protection Program, supporting retail stores and pharmacy locations. The incumbent will conduct Asset Protection assessments and monitor compliance of various operating policies and procedures to ensure Corporate assets are protected in the stores they support. The incumbent will guide, coach, and train Store Management Teams on Asset Protection techniques and initiatives to reduce loss and increase profitability.
The District Manager - Asset Protection is responsible for developing Asset Protection field staff and store employee’s knowledge of operational causes of shrink and the role of Asset Protection. This will be accomplished through mentoring, developing, motivating and evaluating their team while identifying, understanding and responding to specific district needs, in close partnership with their respective District Manager of Operations.
Accountabilities:
Provide Asset Protection support to 60 to 90 stores depending on geographic region.
Conduct regular reviews and Asset Protection assessments to identify discrepancies, providing feedback and training to Store Management teams with corrective measures to reduce risks and losses.
Provide expert advice on Operational policy and procedures at all levels of the organization to minimize and reduce losses to the Company while maintaining clear objectivity, communication and escalation when warranted.
Drive shrink reduction through the support of diverse operational initiatives relative to shrink and physical security. This requires analyzing key financial reports and providing additional training to improve processes and ensure that Asset Protection strategies are obtaining the desired results.
Accountable for the proactive identification, investigation, tracking and resolution of Organized Retail Crime (ORC) impacting the business. Responsible for leading investigative processes, ensuring accurate documentation, and fostering partnerships with law enforcement and relevant government agencies.
Investigate and action all suspected internal integrity issues and liaises with external agencies (Police, finance, legal etc.) as appropriate to determine cause and resolve opportunities. Provide additional training and action plans to prevent loss recurrences.
Conduct internal integrity interviews on a timely basis to identify theft and procedure violations.
On call to respond and support stores in critical incidents such as Break & Enter, Robbery, Fire, etc.
Attend all new, relocated and expanded stores during construction working with the Project Manager and security vendors ensuring the necessary physical security standards are met.
Work with the necessary business stakeholders for acquisition store, assessing each location and ensuring appropriate security measures are in place, making recommendations or changes as necessary.
Review documentation and various Asset Protection reports to highlight variances, follow up on exceptions, investigate areas of concern and develop action plans to improve processes.
Respond to inquiries from all areas of the business to resolve concerns efficiently and in a timely manner.
Support Business Unit partners and Central Office initiatives to reduce shrink.
Ensure the Asset Protection field staff respect the Apprehension Protocol, through review of apprehension and incident reports for compliance and coaching opportunities.
Ensure that all Asset Protection field staff have received the necessary training while fostering two of our corporate values – Getting Better Every Day and Respect for the Individual.
Ensure that the scheduling of all Asset Protection field staff meet the needs of each business unit, while proactively identifying and resolving staffing issues accordingly.
Assess physical security needs and liaison with the necessary support teams as required.
Skills and Experience:
5 years of progressive Loss Prevention/Asset Protection experience.
Post Secondary education in Law & Security or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Valid Driver’s License is required and flexibility to work a variety of shifts including some evenings and weekends.
Ability to deal with sensitive issues with integrity and strong professional judgment.
Ability to gain senior management support for new ideas and initiatives.
Strong knowledge of the company’s policy and procedures.
Strong computer skills including excel, word and outlook
Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
Strong Communication both verbally and written.
Strong computer skills to produce and interpret reports, documents and presentations, along with experience utilizing security surveillance equipment.
The incumbent must possess and be able to demonstrate skills in investigation (including interviewing, problem solving, etc), shrink reduction techniques and other asset protection skills.
Recognized loss prevention industry designations, certificates in recognized Interviewing techniques (Wicklander-Zulawski, Reid Technique, etc) are an asset.
Strong computer skills including excel, word and outlook
