Pourquoi ce role est-il important?

We are looking for a Senior Developer (Backend) to join the Product Domain team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the critical software ecosystem that powers pricing and promotions for all Loblaw Digital e-commerce businesses. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of systems operating at massive scale.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Development Efforts: Design and develop high-performance backend systems using functional programming (Elixir) and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.

• System Architecture: Collaborate on the architecture and design of scalable and efficient systems, ensuring they meet current and future business needs.

• API Development: Build and maintain reliable, secure, and performant APIs to power Loblaw Digital’s platforms and services.

• Complex Problem Solving: Solve challenging technical problems related to data ingestion, business logic, and system performance at scale.

• Mentorship: Provide guidance to team members by conducting code reviews, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, QA, and DevOps, to deliver exceptional solutions.

• Performance Optimization: Identify and address bottlenecks, ensuring systems operate efficiently at scale.

• Ownership: Take end-to-end responsibility for features, ensuring they are delivered with quality and on time.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience: 5+ years of backend development experience, including expertise in Elixir and functional programming.

• OOP Proficiency: Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and their practical applications.

• System Design: Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems.

• API Expertise: Demonstrated ability to design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs.

• Database Knowledge: Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, with experience in optimization and performance tuning.

• Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other cloud providers.

• DevOps Practices: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization tools like Docker, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and debugging skills, with a focus on creating robust, maintainable solutions.

• Leadership: A collaborative mindset with the ability to mentor and inspire team members to achieve their best.

• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
